Innovative Logic Corp and Linux Online are working together to develop software drivers for use under the Linux operating system. Recent projects include frame relay drivers and I/O drivers for two well-respected hardware firms.
Now available as a part of the standard kernel distribution is a standard frame relay (RFC 1490) driver which can be used by any card manufacturer to add FR support to their particular card's drivers. This high level driver is implemented on top of the Sangoma Technologies S502 and S508 Synchronous Data Link Adapters. These cards provide the lowest level of FR support by a loadable module and an onboard CPU. The support tools for the Sangoma cards and the DLCI drivers are available for ftp from ftp://linux.invlogic.com/pub/fr.
Currently, two Sangoma cards operating under Linux provide the routers for the DS1(T1) line shared by Innovative Logic and Linux Promotions.
Available as a patch to Linux kernel version 2.0 and beyond is code to support IP routing based on the source of the packets in addition to the destination. This can be used to route certain customer's packets over the particular grade of line which they are purchasing, or in limiting the traffic by using a physical device to carry all packets. The patch as well as a modified 'route' are available from ftp://linux.invlogic.com/pub/routing
Through a co-operative effort with developers at Digi International we have assisted them in providing drivers for their PC/X series of cards. These drivers represent an entry into a market previously unsupported by Digi, and fill a void in Linux' device support. When integrated in a future kernel release, they will replace current drivers available, providing both vendor support as well as more complete coverage of the Digi line of products.
